I like yummy steak. There are lots of reasons to be a vegetarian instead but that’s not what we’re here to talk about today. Today we are here to discuss the sexy sultry sizzling experience that is an amazing steak.
When elevated to a culinary art form we can encounter the “steak house” restaurant – a place where there is so much focus on the meat that your “dinner” includes nothing.
If you haven’t been to one of these kinds of places the idea is that you order the ‘sides’ separately – I strongly recommend the garlic mashed and asparagus – and you essentially assemble your meal.
When you buy a steak at a steak house they bring you a steak on a plate, nothing else.
This makes for some pretty plates that are all actually shitty dinners.
The people you see in these establishments are very happy and while I kind of hope none of them eat there every day skipping all the green stuff and starchy stuff to focus 100% on sublime meat goodness is lots of fun occasionally.
Wondering what this has to do with websites and digital?
I see steak on the internet all the time. Internet Entrepreneurs love to buy steak, I think many of them also enjoy buying a $300 piece of cow meat.
When you hear someone crowing about their amazing new (expensive) logo, or their incredible (expensive) video, or the amazingly powerful (expensive) shopping cart they just bought – that’s probably steak.
When I see this I think of a shitty doublewide with a gorgeous sports car out front – it just makes no sense.
You’ll do much better for your business to purchase ‘digital meals’ that are complete, wholesome, and effective. Think about balance and consider the whole experience. If you stretch the bank to get just one thing everything else suffers.
Another big problem is that when you train yourself to buy this way you’ll keep doing it – as your business succeeds and your budget grows you still won’t buy good balanced digital.
Here’s the bottom line for Internet Entrepreneurs: digital things outside your budget work like fancy steak – they feel good and impress others. They are also a bad idea and a lousy way to spend your money.
Walk the middle way and you’ll be happier.
